The ETC exception handling terminal consists of an ETC reader/writer, voice announcement, mobile payment, display, audio/video, and help modules. Installed in an ETC-only exit lane, it enables drivers of exception vehicles to swipe ETC cards according to prompts and complete self-service payment and passage. If assistance is needed, the driver can press the help button to call a supervisor or remote agent. Lane- or station-level systems control and monitor product modules through an operation interface protocol.
